Stellar Cellar $1,000 can buy 60 bottles of the world’s finest wines
By Andrew Tanzer, Senior Associate Editor
From Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, October 2008
Luigi Bosca Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2005 For an equally elegant red, try this cabernet sauvignon ($18; www.luigibosca.com.ar). The Arizu family emigrated from Spain in the 19th century and has been making wines in Argentina for more than a century. The experience shows in this graceful cabernet from Mendoza. Catena Chardonnay 2006 This chardonnay ($18; www.catenawines.com) is from high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. Delicately oaked and golden in color, it has lemon, apricot and tropical-fruit flavors. This vintage shows that Argentina can deliver varietals at prices well below those of comparable California wines.

By TOM MARQUARDT and PATRICK DARR Published September 17, 2008 If you can find this white wine, buy it. At this price, you can’t go wrong. From Argentina, torrontes is a very aromatic wine with citrus and grapefruit notes. The wine is simple and a good match to pork and chicken.
